Activex Errors

ActiveX errors are displayed if your computer lacks certain browser settings and misconfigured system files. For instance, you try to open a particular web page using your Internet Explorer, and you get a message - "This page provides potentially unsafe information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result this page may not display correctly." This type of messages is quite confusing for technically challenged computer users, as they do not understand what exactly this error message is trying to say and what they have to do. So they end up by just clicking the Cancel button.

What is the ActiveX control?

The ActiveX control, created by Microsoft, lets designers add special effects to the web pages. It displays web content correctly to upload any error report that you have. Why am I getting ActiveX errors?

You may get ActiveX errors if you have your Internet security settings on High, which will prevent ActiveX controls from running. Also, some custom level settings may cause this error. You must enable ActiveX controls and check custom level settings in this case.
Follow the instructions to enable ActiveX control:

On the Tools menu, click on Internet Options
Click on the Security tab
Click on the Internet icon in the Content Zone window
Set Medium as the Security level for this zone
Click Custom Level button and ensure the following are set to Enabled
- Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
- Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
- Scripting
Click OK
Click OK again to save the changes

You may also get ActiveX errors if certain file is missing, or not registered on your computer, or you have a misconfigured system file. .EXE Error

The .EXE files are executable files in the MS DOS, Microsoft Windows and OS/2 operating systems. This type of .exe error message appears when you open Control Panel in Windows 2000 or XP. You might receive this error if the run32dll.exe file is corrupt or if you have virus on your computer

To correct this error, you need to perform full scan of your system. Please check if you have the latest available updates or patch for this virus checker software. This is a common .exe error message if you upgrade from an older Windows operating system to a new one. This message usually appears when you first log into the new version, but it may remain there if you don't fix it right away. The error message could be something like "Explore.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows."

This error can be caused by a number of things, but it's been found that it's mostly caused by a Norton Sweep program that may have been installed on your computer in the previous operating system.

To correct this .exe error message, immediately press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open the Task Manager. Once in there, click on the New Task button, type "control" in the box and press Enter on your keyboard. This will then open the Control Panel. Confliction with other running programs: end task all the open programs to ensure that the run time error is not caused by any third party program; however, if your system still gives the same error (mainly in Windows 95 or 98) verify that no utility program is being loaded in the autoexec.bat / config.sys that is renaming the files and causing the runtime error.
Software issue: if the issue still persists verify the developer's website to check whether all the latest patches or updates have been downloaded and installed on your machine. If everything is fine but the problem is still there, try uninstalling the program and then reinstall it. If the run time error is caused due to operating system, you need to reinstall the OS.
Computer virus: the viruses can damage system's settings and memory, so it is possible for virus to generate run time error messages as well. If your computer is already running a virus protection program make sure it has latest updated patch or .dat file. If you do not have antivirus program, get one and scan your hard drive to check if virus has affected your PC or not.
Memory issue: if after following all the above recommendation you still get runtime error, it is possible that you may be encountering a memory related issue. You need to contact the motherboard manufacturer for additional services.
